- It’s a festival of kites but also a festival to get together with our friends and families on the roof and eats loads of uttarayam special delicacies.
Vadodara | The most important nutrition tip would be to keep yourself hydrated during the whole day since you would be on the roof for most of the day. Since we are too busy flying a kite, we can sometimes ignore the fact that we need to drink water frequently. You can keep a bottle for yourself and measure it during the whole day or you can keep a water tracking app on your phone to keep you reminded.
For energy levels to be high to scream when you cut someone’s kite would be maintained if you keep yourself hydrated enough. Apart for water, you can include sugarcane juice, coconut water, buttermilk, these are packed with necessary nutrients.
Keep low on sugary sweets and drinks. Don’t go overboard.
You can have your sweet in between meals and not with the meal since that will increase the carbohydrate and caloric load. Consume your jalebis mindfully and maintain moderation.
Keep yourself munching on fruits and til chikkis during the day. Til chikkis are a great source of calcium which is important since your body is taking in all the Vitamin D whilst you are on the roof.
One way to have undhiyu in a healthier way is to minimize oil/ghee usage in making and consume preparation which is home made. Avoid sev on the top to save those extra calories, instead you can put roasted sev or papdi, prepared at home, on it.
Consume nutritious food at small intervals. Do not keep long gaps between your meals. Your body needs a certain amount of calories for it to function so provide that but with better foods. Small frequent meals are a go go to maintain your energy and stamina levels.
